CAIN update 1 10/31/24 Happy Halloween! This is a small update to CAIN, mostly intended to adjust the difficulty of the game and the clarity of certain systems. By far not the final adjustment to the game! Enjoy wiping out the stain. GENERAL CHANGES Numerous spelling error changes Added correct bookmark for EDIT GAME SYSTEM CHANGES Change to divine agony - can only be used once per scene for the entire group, to make use more strategic and prevent unbalancing the final confrontation. Clarification on mundane vs supernatural forces with more specific note text. Sin overflow now permanently ticks 2 sin boxes instead of 1. Sin marks by themselves don't lower sin anymore (overflow does). In addition, clarification on mark vs ability (for purposes of doomed agenda). Added nonlethal stress concept to save on wording Service weapons are now explicitly CAT 0 by default but can be increased by spending scrip ABILITY CHANGES Change to metamorphosis (from doomed agenda). Reword on firebug's weak spot for clarity. Rework on sorcerer's Cantrip Finishing move for Sorcerer now locks out all blasphemies Improved chances of Loner's Dust to Dust Clarity on missing body parts from absentia SIN CHANGES sins now heal 1d3 on pressure increase when retreating + wording clarification sins can now afflict exorcists as a tension move sins now deal 2/3/5 stress with attacks sins now deal an injury/3/5 stress with a threat Complications are now 2 talisman, 4 talisman, 6 talisman to deal with clarification on complications traces can now react once a round with the sin they are with sin execution talisman is now 7+pressure+CAT Severe attacks now start with 6d6 dice Traces and all other foe's stress now 4/3/2 CHARACTER SHEET fixed mission survived numbers on char sheets (for CAT) Character sheet sin overflow clarification Adjusted visuals of character sheet
